The Kerala High Court: where it is today
Be clear about one thing first: the Kerala High Court is not in Kalamassery today. It sits on Marine Drive in central Kochi (Ernakulam). If you work there but want to keep monthly costs down, living further north in Kalamassery and commuting in is one option.
From Kalamassery, Kochi Metro Line 1 runs south through Edappally towards M.G. Road and the city centre. The Kochi Water Metro also has a terminal at the High Court, with boats to Fort Kochi. Check the station nearest to the court and the travel time at your office hours before you commit to a stay.

The Judicial City plan at Kalamassery
In September 2025 the Kerala Cabinet approved a proposed “Judicial City” at Kalamassery, on land held by HMT, meant for the High Court’s future needs. As of early 2026, HMT has opposed handing over the land at the offered compensation, and the matter is before the Supreme Court. So it is a plan, not a move — do not choose a stay on the assumption that the court will shift soon.
Adani Logistics Park, Kalamassery
The Adani Logistics Park is being developed by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ). Its foundation stone was laid in Kalamassery on 23 August 2025. The company describes a park of over 70 acres for warehousing and logistics, and news reports place it between HMT and Government Medical College, Kalamassery. APSEZ expects it to create over 1,500 jobs.
If you are joining the logistics park, a warehouse, or one of the units around HMT and the KINFRA Hi-Tech Park, living in Kalamassery can keep your daily trip short. The Seaport–Airport Road also passes through this part of Kalamassery, with its HMT–NAD stretch still being completed.
Keeping the stay affordable
- Share a room. Twin-sharing is usually cheaper per head than a single room and still workable for most people.
- Ask what is included. A low rent with separate electricity, water and food can cost more than a slightly higher, inclusive one.
- Know the advance. Ask how much is taken and how it is returned.
- Count your travel costs. A cheaper bed far from the metro can cost more in autos.
