Workplaces near Kalamassery: Industrial Estates, Tech Parks and Hubs

Kalamassery is surrounded by work: a machine-tool factory, a hi-tech park with Kerala’s biggest startup complex, a medical college, a new logistics park, and the chemical belt of Eloor and Edayar on the Periyar. Infopark, the airport and the High Court are further out but reachable. This page maps them and links to a detailed guide for each.

Four clusters, not one

People say "Kalamassery industrial area" as if it were one place. In practice the jobs fall into four rough clusters, and which one you work in decides where you should live and how you will travel.

  1. The HMT plateau (north-east of the highway). HMT’s factory, KINFRA Hi-Tech Park with the Kerala Startup Mission complex, NUALS, the Government Medical College, the Cochin Cancer Research Centre and the new Adani Logistics Park all sit on land that was once part of HMT’s original allotment. NAD Road runs through this side of Kalamassery.
  2. The river belt (west and north-west). FACT’s Udyogamandal Complex, Travancore Cochin Chemicals and other chemical units at Eloor and Pathalam, and the Edayar industrial area further along the Periyar.
  3. The town and highway strip. The Kalamassery Industrial Estate, Apollo Tyres at Premier Junction, small manufacturing in South Kalamassery, showrooms and service centres along NH 544.
  4. The commuter destinations. Infopark at Kakkanad, Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery and the Kerala High Court in Ernakulam – not in Kalamassery, but within commuting range of it.

Status of projects changes quickly. The Adani park, the Seaport–Airport Road extension, the Metro Pink Line to Infopark and the Judicial City were all at different stages of planning or construction in 2025–26. Each guide says what we could confirm and when.

How people actually commute from here

For the HMT plateau, most people go by two-wheeler, auto or on foot, because the main campuses are close to each other and to NAD Road but are not on the metro line. For the river belt, the usual route is through Pathalam towards Eloor and Edayar; company buses and shared autos are common for shift workers, and the Pathalam bridge and Eloor road guide explains the roads.

For Infopark the road is the Seaport–Airport Road from HMT Junction towards Kakkanad. For the airport you head north on NH 544 through Aluva. For the High Court, the Kochi Metro Blue Line from Kalamassery or Cochin University station runs straight into Ernakulam. Getting around Kalamassery has the full detail on each mode.

If you don’t know your posting yet

Many men arrive with a job offer but no fixed site – a contractor may move you between Eloor and the logistics park, or a hospital may roster you across departments. In that case it makes sense to pick a base that sits between clusters rather than inside one. A room near NAD Road or HMT Junction puts the HMT plateau within easy reach, keeps the Seaport–Airport Road nearby for Kakkanad, and leaves the metro and NH 544 a short ride away. Our page on why NAD Road is a practical base goes into this.
