Locating AISAT

AISAT’s own disclosure gives its address as Archbishop Angel Mary Nagar, Cochin University P.O., Kalamassery, Kochi 682022, and describes the campus as neighbouring CUSAT, beside the national highway and the Seaport–Airport Road. The name comes from the Albertian family of institutions of the Archdiocese of Verapoly, whose educational trust runs the college. Don’t confuse it with St. Albert’s College in Ernakulam city – a different institution in a different part of Kochi.

Because of the Cochin University P.O. address, many new students and drivers assume it is inside the CUSAT campus. It is a separate campus nearby; use the college’s name in your map app, not just “CUSAT”.

From there it is a short walk or auto ride depending on which gate you use. Buses along NH 544 and the Seaport–Airport Road also serve the area. AISAT gives Aluva as the nearest railway station for long-distance trains and Cochin International Airport as the nearest airport; see Aluva station to Kalamassery for the first trip.

What engineering students need from a room

KTU’s B.Tech has a heavy rhythm: series tests, lab records, mini-projects and, from the third year, main projects and internships. Compared with an arts student, an engineering student needs:

  • Desk space and power points for a laptop – ask how many sockets the room has and whether it’s practical to study there at night.
  • A reliable phone signal or internet for KTU portal work and project files. Ask about internet on the call, and read mobile network and internet in Kalamassery.
  • Flexibility in exam months, when you may want to stay through vacations to finish projects.
  • A roommate on a similar schedule – twin sharing works well if both of you keep similar hours.

If you are buying a laptop or need a repair, see phones, laptops and repairs near Kalamassery.

Neighbouring colleges, shared streets

AISAT sits in the same cluster as CUSAT and, a little further towards Thrikkakara, Model Engineering College and Bharata Mata College. Private hostels and PGs around here fill with students from all of them, so start looking early – ideally as soon as admissions are confirmed. Our colleges map shows the whole cluster, and men’s hostel near CUSAT describes the housing pattern on this side of town.
