“Rajagiri” is a name used by several institutions in Kochi run by the same Carmelite (CMI) family of organisations, and new students regularly turn up at the wrong one. Here is the short version for Rajagiri College of Social Sciences (RCSS):

Life on the Kalamassery Hill Campus
Rajagiri began professional social work education with a Diploma in Social Service in 1955 and later introduced Kerala’s first MSW. Social work remains the course people associate with the Hill Campus, and it shapes the rhythm of the year: classroom weeks alternate with fieldwork placements at NGOs, hospitals, schools and community projects across Kochi, plus rural camps and block placements that can take you away for weeks.
For a male MSW student that means two things. First, you need a room you can leave for a while without losing it – ask how absences are handled. Second, you will travel a lot within Kochi, so being near the metro and the bus corridors matters more than being next to the gate. Students on other Hill Campus programmes such as BCA, MCA, commerce and psychology have a more regular day.
Getting around from the Hill Campus
The Hill Campus has a Kalamassery postal address on the town side of NH 544. Kalamassery and Cochin University metro stations are both on the highway; check which is closer to the gate you will use. Fieldwork placements towards Ernakulam city are easiest by metro, while placements in Aluva, Eloor or Edayar are usually a bus ride. Ashraf Gents Hostel is a men-only boys’ hostel and PG at Ashraf house, NAD Road, at the signal in Kalamassery. It takes students, staff and working men, and works best for Hill Campus students – check the route to the Rajagiri gate on a map. For the Kakkanad Valley Campus, the daily trip is longer and you should weigh it carefully.
The photos show twin-sharing rooms with cots and mattresses, red-oxide floors, a balcony, a kitchen and a tiled bathroom with a western toilet.
