Kochi Metro and the Kalamassery fire station: we could not verify a current number from an official page while writing, so we have left them out. Use the contacts on kochimetro.org or the station information inside the Kochi1 app, and 101 or 112 for any fire.
Road accident on NH 544 or Seaport–Airport Road
- Get yourself and others out of the traffic lane if it is safe. Highways here carry fast buses and trucks.
- Call 112 (or 108 for an ambulance). Say the nearest landmark — a junction, metro station or pillar number — rather than “near Kalamassery”.
- Do not move a seriously injured person unless there is immediate danger such as fire.
- Photograph the vehicles, number plates and the scene once everyone is safe.
- Report to the police station with jurisdiction; for most of Kalamassery that is Kalamassery Police Station.
Our NH 544 guide names the junctions, and the two-wheeler guide covers riding safely in this traffic.
Phone stolen or lost
- Call your mobile operator from another phone to block the SIM, and get a duplicate SIM so you can receive bank OTPs again.
- File a police complaint: at Kalamassery Police Station, or through the Kerala Police Pol-App or website. Keep the complaint number.
- Block the handset on the Department of Telecommunications’ Sanchar Saathi portal (CEIR). You need the IMEI, the complaint number and ideally the purchase invoice.
- Change passwords for email, UPI and banking apps from another device, and tell your bank if UPI was set up on the phone.
- If money has already gone, call 1930 at once — the sooner, the better the chance of freezing it.
Write your phone’s IMEI (dial *#06#) in a notebook today. Bank and UPI safety basics are in banks and ATMs.
Medical emergency
Call 108 or 112. Government Medical College, Ernakulam, at HMT Colony, has an emergency department (the college lists 100 emergency beds); the hospitals guide explains the options. Keep a note in your wallet with your blood group (if known), any allergies and a family contact. For non-urgent medicines, see pharmacies near Kalamassery.
Power, water and monsoon trouble
A fallen electric line after a storm is an emergency: keep everyone away and call KSEB on 1912, or 112 if someone is hurt. Flooded roads and waterlogging are common in heavy monsoon spells; our monsoon guide covers preparation.
Emergencies and Ashraf Gents Hostel
When you call 112 or 108 from the hostel, give the address the way a driver will find it: Ashraf house, NAD Rd, signal, Kalamassery, PIN 683563, and say “NAD Road signal”. Save the hostel’s number, +91 90746 23855, as well, and let the hostel know when something serious has happened. If you are arriving late, also read arriving late at night.
