Locating Marampally on the map
First, the geography — because many newcomers assume ‘Aluva’ in the address means Aluva town. MES College Marampally is at North Vazhakulam, in the countryside between Aluva and Perumbavoor, near the Periyar. The college describes its campus as green and rural. That is lovely for studying, but it means fewer rooms, shops and eating places in the immediate area than in a town.
Kalamassery is on the other side of Aluva, to the south along NH 544. So every trip is Kalamassery → Aluva → east towards Perumbavoor.

The commute from Kalamassery
- Metro or NH 544 bus to Aluva — Aluva is the northern end of Kochi Metro Line 1.
- Change at Aluva for a bus heading towards Perumbavoor and ask for the Marampally / MES College stop. Confirm locally which routes pass the college gate; we have not verified specific bus numbers or timings.
- Or ride a two-wheeler through Aluva — the most flexible option, though Aluva town’s junctions are slow at peak times.
Do one trial run at the time your classes start. If the door-to-door time is too long for you, a room closer to the college — or in Aluva town — may be the better compromise.

Monsoon and festival days on this route
The road between Aluva and the Marampally side runs close to the Periyar. In heavy monsoon spells, low-lying stretches of Aluva and nearby panchayats have been affected by flooding in past years, most notably in 2018, and buses can be delayed or diverted. On such days, keep an eye on college announcements and local news before setting out.
Around Aluva Sivarathri, traffic near the Manappuram and Aluva town gets very heavy. Our Sivarathri guide explains what to expect, and the monsoon living tips apply to this commute too.
